Position Overview

The Airport Systems Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing a suite of systems and services that cater to both airport tenants and passengers. This includes managing the Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS), Queue Management System (QMS), Common Use Passenger Processing Systems (CUPPS), airport operational databases (AODB), Digital Content Management System (CMS), and other essential IT applications that facilitate the smooth functioning of airport operations. The role involves coordinating application integration, maintenance, and ongoing enhancements of these systems while acting as a key advisor and liaison to airport partners and stakeholders regarding the development and effective utilization of airport applications. This position also serves as the primary contact for application vendors and service providers.

Key Responsibilities
Management Duties

  • Foster a culture that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, enabling employees from all backgrounds to excel.
  • Oversee contract personnel within the Airport Systems division.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, products, and standards relevant to Airport Systems.
  • Develop and manage the budget for the area, assessing costs and performance of ongoing and new initiatives.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of major project timelines.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Engage with airport partners and stakeholders to design and implement new or revised systems, ensuring compliance with functional requirements and interface specifications.
  • Oversee the complete software lifecycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, deployment, testing, maintenance, and project management.
  • Plan and prioritize the activities of the Airport Systems team to ensure effective resource utilization and adherence to operational standards.
  • Lead projects of varying complexity and participate in departmental and airport-wide meetings and workgroups.
  • Analyze performance metrics within the area, document solutions, identify issues, and implement improvements to enhance system quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and advocate for infrastructure automation across all computing platforms.
  • Monitor service trends and generate analytical reports for various audiences.
  • Provide expert consultation during emergencies, ensuring availability beyond standard working hours.

Relationship Management

  • Establish and nurture collaborative partnerships with airport stakeholders to support system operations, including leading or participating in relevant working groups and planning sessions.
  • Collaborate on initiatives aimed at enhancing digital proficiency across the airport, raising awareness of current IT services and emerging technology tools.

Engagement & Support

  • Stay informed about current practices, future trends, and best practices in airport systems and services.
  • Represent Airport IT in the broader airport community by participating in working groups and committees.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in managing enterprise-level applications and systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey ideas in accessible language.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a knack for identifying and addressing critical issues.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Ability to cultivate effective relationships and a commitment to collaborative work in a diverse environment.

Education

While a specific degree is not mandatory, a bachelor's degree is considered a valuable foundation for this role. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in system and application administration, including at least three years in a managerial capacity, is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000
