Job Overview

The Baggage Operations Supervisor is tasked with managing the daily functions of the baggage handling crew. This position involves ensuring the prompt, precise, and secure management of passenger luggage while addressing and resolving operational challenges. You will also be responsible for training and mentoring the baggage handling personnel and ensuring compliance with airport safety and security regulations. Effective communication with airline representatives and other airport divisions is essential for facilitating smooth baggage movement and enhancing the overall passenger experience.

WORKING AS A BAGGAGE OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

· You thrive in a collaborative environment, working towards shared objectives

· Oversee the daily functions of the baggage handling crew

· Ensure the timely and accurate processing of passenger luggage

· Monitor compliance with baggage handling protocols and safety regulations

· Conduct training sessions for both new and existing team members on baggage handling practices

· Address operational challenges and passenger inquiries regarding luggage

· Coordinate with airlines and airport authorities for efficient baggage transfer

· Implement strategies to improve efficiency in baggage operations

· You possess a keen attention to detail

· You enjoy collaborating with others or working independently to complete tasks

· Supervisory capabilities

· Ability to foster long-term relationships with clients

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

· Capability to lift 70 pounds or more

· Ability to hear and respond to verbal communication and audible alarms in the terminal environment

· Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area while focusing on a specific point); Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)

Qualifications

· Minimum age requirement of 18 years

· Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English, including documentation

· 2 years of customer service experience

· 1 year of experience in baggage handling

· Comfortable using computers, mobile devices, and tablets

· Ability to pass a drug screening

· Eligibility to obtain necessary credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal as applicable)
