Job Summary

The Chicago Lighthouse for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Program Coordinator to support the Youth Transition Services team. As a key member of our team, you will provide administrative and programmatic support to the Youth Transition Programs Manager in planning and organizing programs and services for Chicagoland's teens and young adults who are blind, vision impaired, or otherwise disabled.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Planning and Implementation: Assist in planning and providing programming for youth participants in the Youth Transition programs, including data collection, advertising and recruitment support, and facilitating and maintaining communication between the Program Manager, participants, and stakeholders.
  • Outreach and Recruitment: Help strategize and implement outreach, advertisement, and recruitment of both youth participants and seasonal staff for Youth Transition programming.
  • Participant Support: Identify individual need for and help secure barrier reduction and supportive services, including referrals for additional support, to ensure successful placement of enrolled participants.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain youth participant records according to state, city, and agency standards and within designated systems.
  • Program Evaluation: Support the evaluation of program effectiveness in meeting participant and family needs.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other program managers regarding contract requirements and program reports.
  • Community Engagement: Present agency programs and serve as an advocate for youth with a variety of employers, community and/or professional groups.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Education, Communication, or related field (i.e. Sociology, Psychology) required.
  • Experience: 1-2 years Program administration experience preferred.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, willingness to learn new systems, strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft, Excel, and Internet.
