Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Prevention Specialist to join our team at Youth Outreach Service. The successful candidate will provide evidence-based prevention curriculum lessons related to substance use and/or teen pregnancy prevention within select schools in Chicago and the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement prevention programs for adolescents in select schools, working closely with teachers and school personnel to develop programming for specified grades.
  • Provide community education and outreach regarding prevention programs, attending community/partner meetings related to prevention activities.
  • Maintain all documentation as required by funders, ensuring compliance with program requirements.
  • Participate in the One Summer Chicago youth employment program during summer months, assisting in identifying employers willing to place youth for employment and providing mentoring and monitoring to the youth during their employment term.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in social services/public health preferred, or Associate's Degree with significant experience as a substitute for degree.
  • Valid driver's license and daily access to own vehicle required.
  • Some experience working with adolescents in a professional capacity (teaching, mentoring, coaching, counseling, etc.) preferred.
  • Knowledge of/prior experience in substance use and/or prevention programming preferred.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.
