Join Our Mission: The Salvation Army College for Officer Training is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Youth Program Coordinator.

About Us: The Salvation Army is a faith-driven non-profit organization committed to delivering social and spiritual support to communities globally since 1885.

Position Overview: This role is situated at our College for Officer's Training and involves nurturing Cadet and Officer Middle School students (grades 6-8). The Coordinator will ensure a safe, clean, and nurturing environment where children can thrive and develop positive self-esteem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the guidelines set forth by The Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters regarding child and youth interaction.
  • Prepare educational and recreational materials as instructed by the lead educator for lesson execution.
  • Enhance understanding of child and adolescent development through participation in training sessions and staff orientations.
  • Assist with daily school-related activities and maintain a respectful atmosphere among students during classroom sessions and outings.
  • Communicate effectively with the FCC Director regarding student discipline, personal needs, health issues, and other relevant concerns.
  • Help plan group activities that incorporate Christian values, including service projects, educational excursions, and sports.
  • Engage in daily group activities, promoting inclusion and encouraging participation from all children.
  • Foster a dynamic and energetic environment while maintaining control and safety among students.
  • Assist in the upkeep of the classroom, including technology and supplies, ensuring organization and readiness.
  • Submit requests for supplies and financial resources promptly.
  • Collaborate with parents and colleagues to ensure consistency in student discipline.
  • Transport students to various activities as required.
  • Support staff during breaks and lunches, demonstrating flexibility across age groups.
  • Provide assistance to other classrooms as needed.
  • Be available for evening, weekend, or holiday shifts as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children or youth, preferably in a ministry context.

Certifications:

  • CPR and First Aid (adult & young child) - Training provided upon hire if necessary.
  • Safe From Harm - Training provided upon hire if necessary.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, pull, and push materials up to 25 pounds, with the capacity to bend, squat, and walk. May require standing for extended periods.

Travel Requirements: Occasional out-of-town travel may be necessary.
