Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine and moderately complex maintenance and repair work on buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections, adjustments, installations, maintenance, and repairs on buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment.
  • Operate motorized equipment, requisition materials and supplies, and maintain records.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Work as a team member with other shops and employees to achieve maintenance and repair goals.
  • May be required to perform other tasks, including operating a motor vehicle, making deliveries, and picking up supplies.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems, electrical distribution systems, electronics, boilers, painting, and carpentry.
  • Knowledge of building materials, plumbing, and electrical fixtures, as well as welding procedures, HVAC, sanitation, and refrigeration.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety, fire, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to perform maintenance, follow instructions, estimate materials, and apply proper methods, techniques, and procedures in the maintenance and repair of buildings, building, and utility systems.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, or sketches and work independently or with a team.
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and use good judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally or in writing with other members of the maintenance and facility team.
Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with moderate to heavy physical demands. The successful candidate will be required to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures. The position may also require working in an on-call status on a rotating schedule as required to meet operational needs of the facility.
