Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a Custodian II, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain floor care, restroom care, bedroom care, nurses' station, and isolation areas in accordance with established procedures and safety measures.
  • Maintain and clean the interior and exterior of assigned buildings, reporting needed repairs and replenishing supplies as needed.
  • Train and coach other custodians as needed, and provide documentation of any training conducted.
  • Inspect assigned buildings and areas for cleanliness, completed work, and needed minor repairs, and perform minor maintenance.
  • Complete documentation in an accurate and timely manner, protecting confidential information and maintaining inventory and equipment records.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, standards, and sanitation regulations.
  • Knowledge of infection control principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
  • Skill in use of custodial equipment, materials, and the safe handling of chemicals.
  • Skill in use and maintenance of building maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods.
  • Ability to work harmoniously and productively with co-workers and residents.
  • Ability to work irregular hours.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The successful candidate will be able to work harmoniously and productively with co-workers and residents, and will be able to lift 50 pounds and stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods.
