Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Specialist V to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing advanced restoration, renovation, and maintenance work in a designated skilled trade.

Key Responsibilities:
• Performs advanced restoration, renovation, and maintenance work in a designated skilled trade, including renovation, restoration, alteration, inspections, adjustments, installations, maintenance, and repairs of buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment.
• Requisitions material and supplies, and maintains records of work performed.
• Processes paperwork related to work orders, projects, and material requisitions.
• Performs training, assigns, and/or prioritizes the work of others.
• Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy.
• May serve in an on-call status on a rotating schedule as required to meet operational needs of the facility.

Requirements:
• Knowledge of the repair, maintenance, and operations of buildings, building systems, and grounds.
• Skill in the use of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
• Ability to perform maintenance, follow instructions, estimate materials, and apply proper methods, techniques, and procedures in the maintenance and repair of buildings, building, and utility systems.
• Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, or sketches.
• Ability to organize preventive maintenance programs.
• Ability to work independently or with a team.
• Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and other facility staff.
• Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and use good judgment.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally or in writing with other members of the maintenance and facility team.
