Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist, Capyear

Position Overview:
As a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist at Capyear, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of our Chemistry Division. This position requires a blend of administrative and technical expertise to ensure the efficient execution of various laboratory procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and training of laboratory personnel.
- Supervise and guide laboratory staff in performing both routine and specialized technical tasks.
- Coordinate daily operations, including scheduling and planning work assignments.
- Assist in the development and refinement of laboratory protocols and procedures.
- Ensure the laboratory is adequately staffed to maintain optimal operational efficiency.
- Review and validate laboratory data, ensuring accurate reporting of patient results.
- Provide support to staff on complex procedures, utilizing independent judgment.
- Engage in Quality Management activities, including quality control and proficiency testing.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and manage budgetary considerations.
- Facilitate communication among staff, management, and medical directors.
- Conduct laboratory testing as required and provide instruction to students.
- Be available to cover various shifts to ensure continuous patient care.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related Basic Science field, accompanied by a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Certification as a Technologist from recognized bodies such as the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent is required. Candidates must qualify as Testing Personnel for high complexity testing under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA).
Preferred Qualifications:
Specialty certification and experience in clinical laboratory work, particularly in the chemistry domain, are highly desirable.
Work Environment:
This position operates within a standard laboratory setting, utilizing both laboratory and office equipment.
Schedule:
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays as needed.
