The Behavioral Health Emergency Case Specialist position entails collaborating with a multidisciplinary team within the Emergency Department to perform crisis evaluations, link patients to essential services, and effectively manage post-discharge requirements. This role necessitates teamwork with both medical and psychiatric professionals to guarantee the highest standard of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive crisis assessments to determine patient needs.
  • Facilitate connections to appropriate services and resources.
  • Coordinate care management with various agencies and insurance entities as necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree or higher in a field related to behavioral health.
  • Strong communication abilities to handle complex situations with sensitivity.
  • Knowledge of DSM5, ICD10, and interqual/MCG criteria.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in assessment roles.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • At least two years of experience in crisis or emergency services within a behavioral health context.
  • Awareness of patient rights and relevant mental health legislation.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
  • Valid driver's license from the State of Illinois (if applicable).
  • CPI certification to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross to be acquired within 90 days of employment.
