Job Overview:

We are in search of a meticulous and skilled Project Accountant to become a vital part of our client's team. The Project Accountant will oversee the financial dimensions of various roofing projects, ensuring precision in accounting records and delivering financial insights to project managers to enhance project outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in construction accounting, exceptional organizational abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the financial elements of multiple roofing projects from start to finish.
  • Develop and evaluate project budgets, forecasts, and financial documentation.
  • Track project expenses, monitor costs, and ensure compliance with budgetary limits.
  • Perform cost analysis and furnish financial insights to project managers and senior leadership.
  • Prepare and process invoices, purchase orders, and payments to subcontractors related to projects.
  • Reconcile project accounts and maintain the integrity of financial records.
  • Collaborate with project managers to establish and uphold project timelines and schedules.
  • Assist in the creation of financial statements and reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Conduct regular audits of project financials to detect discrepancies and propose corrective measures.
  • Help prepare and submit financial documentation for project bids and proposals.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation during audits.
  • Maintain organized and accurate project accounting files and records.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • CPA or CPA Track is preferred.
  • 3-10 years of experience in project accounting, ideally within the construction sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with roofing industry practices and terminology is advantageous.
