In this position, you will acquire numerous invaluable skills, including effective time and task management, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to articulate complex issues succinctly while employing available resources to resolve intricate challenges.

This Structural Project Engineer position will contribute to the NISC IV program, acting as project engineers responsible for planning and design tasks that facilitate the modernization of facilities for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role encompasses the creation of project plans, scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations, as well as the preparation of drawings, specifications, and risk management documentation in collaboration with facility stakeholders from Technical Operations and Air Traffic divisions. • Develop sketches illustrating the relationship of proposed installations within existing or new structures, ensuring precise specifications and dimensions.
  • Engage in construction inspections and final assessments.
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel and other stakeholders to identify and address design or implementation issues.
  • Coordinate design elements with a multidisciplinary team as necessary for site-specific modifications and new constructions.
  • Create AutoCAD construction drawings and develop site-specific specifications, contract documents, and independent cost estimates.
  • Execute project management tasks and communications, including safety plans, work sequences, and cutover strategies.
  • Generate and manage Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC), communication strategies, and project risk registers to fulfill Operational Risk Management (ORM) requirements.
  • Coordinate and finalize Work Permits necessary for addressing potential lead and asbestos concerns during construction.
  • Participate in meetings, including pre-construction and on-site construction discussions with stakeholders to ensure alignment with ongoing projects.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction activities to achieve project milestones and deadlines, working closely with stakeholders and contractors.
  • Conduct internal design reviews of FAA-engineered projects.
  • Monitor project progress and stakeholder requirements.
  • Work independently to assess, select, and apply standard engineering methods and practices, exercising judgment in adapting and modifying engineering designs.
Essential Qualifications:
  • A Civil or Structural Engineering degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • A minimum of six years of experience in foundation design and industrial structural systems (steel and concrete) for commercial, industrial, and/or government facilities.
  • Current and relevant knowledge of building structural codes to perform structural design calculations and engineering assessments.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and engineering scheduling tools, with the ability to utilize the Internet for research and communication.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD / MicroStation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation and effectively collaborate with various project stakeholders, peers, and management.
  • Capability to maintain an electronic project folder related to site preparation and equipment installation challenges.
  • Must be eligible to obtain an FAA Public Trust prior to commencement. Eligibility requires U.S. citizenship or Green Card status with three years of residency in the United States.
