Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) specializing in Neuro Critical Care to enhance our dedicated critical care team. This role is situated within a facility that boasts a robust critical care infrastructure, including a specialized Neuro Critical Care unit.

The APP will play a vital role in the management of critically ill patients, employing advanced clinical skills and knowledge tailored to Neuro ICU environments. This position emphasizes excellence in patient care, research, education, and collaborative practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct clinical services to critically ill adult patients experiencing multi-system failures, adhering to evidence-based clinical standards under physician supervision.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including health histories and physical examinations, documenting findings per hospital protocols.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, clearly communicating the purpose and expected outcomes to patients and their families.
  • Perform essential life-saving procedures, including CPR, airway management, and administration of critical medications.
  • Manage invasive procedures such as arterial and central venous catheter placements, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Engage in patient monitoring and education, guiding healthcare staff in the use of medical equipment.
  • Participate in admissions and consultations for the Neuro ICU, collaborating closely with the Neuro-Intensivist during rounds.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for acute illnesses in partnership with supervising physicians, maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Monitor patient status, recognizing changes and initiating necessary emergency interventions to stabilize conditions.
  • Assist in the comprehensive management of patients throughout their ICU stay, including pre-, peri-, and postoperative care.

Work Schedule:

This position involves night shifts, specifically from 7 PM to 7 AM, with opportunities for additional shifts available.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Nursing (with Acute Care Certification) or in Physician Assistant Studies.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a Neuro ICU setting as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Prior experience as a Registered Nurse in a Neuro ICU is highly desirable.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current and valid licensure as a PA or APRN in Florida.
  • Certification from a nationally recognized organization such as NCCPA or ANCC.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are required; ENLS certification is preferred.
