We are seeking dedicated Physician Assistants (PAs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to enhance our critical care team. The selected candidates will play a vital role in managing critically ill patients within our closed ICU environment. Ideal candidates will leverage specialized skills and knowledge pertinent to ICU settings, contributing to excellence in patient care, research, education, and organizational leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient health histories and physical examinations, documenting findings accurately.
- Order and interpret relevant diagnostic and laboratory tests, providing clear explanations regarding procedures to patients and their families.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for acute illnesses in collaboration with supervising physicians, ensuring proper documentation.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and initiate appropriate interventions, including emergency measures when necessary.
- Perform various procedures, including the management of arterial and central venous catheters, CPR, airway management, and the administration of life-supporting medications in accordance with established protocols.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research activities.
Work Schedule:
- Flexible hour shifts required monthly.
- Both day and night shifts are part of the schedule.
- Availability for two weekends each month is necessary.
- Shifts may vary between 7 AM - 7 PM (day) and 7 PM - 7 AM (night).
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Nursing (Acute Care Certification required) or completion of Physician Assistant Studies.
- A minimum of 5 years of ICU RN experience or 3 years as an APRN in an ICU setting.
- 3 years of experience as a PA in an ICU or 5 years in a surgical specialty.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Current and valid Florida APRN or PA-C License.
- Acute Care Certification required for APRNs.
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
- FCCS and ATLS certifications are highly preferred but not mandatory.
