Position Summary

Novalink Solutions is in search of a Strategic Systems Consultant to assist in navigating the intricate challenges that our organization encounters. We are seeking a professional with extensive expertise in systems thinking and a proven track record of applying this knowledge to practical issues. The focus of this role is to enhance decision-making capabilities in the face of complex, dynamic environments.

System dynamics serves as a robust methodology for analyzing and enhancing multifaceted systems, extending beyond technology to include social, economic, and environmental dimensions. This role is not intended for IT systems-related tasks.

As a key contributor, you will engage in research aimed at understanding and bolstering the resilience of interconnected social support systems. Your work will integrate both methodological and empirical approaches to foster self-sufficiency among individuals served by our organization.

Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience collaborating with governmental or private entities to tackle complex organizational challenges.
  • At least 5 years of advanced proficiency in simulation modeling tools such as Vensim or Stella.
  • Strong background in quantitative research methodologies, including mathematical modeling (e.g., differential equations, econometrics, optimization) and data analysis; familiarity with diverse simulation techniques across various sectors is advantageous.
  • Experience in qualitative research methods, including the development of causal loop diagrams (CLDs); survey administration experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results on time and within budget.
Work Commitment: Up to 20 hours per month

Scope of Responsibilities:

The consultant will collaborate with our team to:
  • Design and execute simulation models for policy analysis and impact assessment.
  • Utilize mathematical models and data analysis to implement various simulation techniques across the public sector.
  • Create causal loop diagrams and apply insights gained to qualitative research efforts.
  • Conduct evaluations of policies and analyze their impacts.
  • Facilitate training sessions to enhance team understanding of system dynamics and simulation modeling.
Key Responsibilities

The consultant will be tasked with:
  • Simulation: Responsibilities include model development using simulation software, data research, calibration, validation, and comprehensive reporting on model structure and results interpretation.
  • Research: Collaborate with leadership to support data collection and reporting efforts. The consultant will be expected to produce analyses and written materials that are ready for publication with minimal oversight.
  • Collaboration and Project Management: Participate in team meetings and strategy sessions to align activities, contribute insights, and execute project objectives. Present findings to stakeholders and decision-makers.
Travel and Work Environment: This position is classified as hybrid, allowing for potential in-person engagements on a quarterly basis.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Master's degree or equivalent in engineering, business management, or public policy with a focus on system dynamics.
  • 4-6 years of progressive experience in system dynamics modeling.
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative analytical methods.
  • Ability to navigate between detailed technical analysis and overarching strategic perspectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience within the social support system is preferred.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
