Key Responsibilities

  • The Campus Planning division is integral to the operations at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), acting as the liaison between PNNL and external stakeholders, including contractors, municipal authorities, and various utility and governmental organizations.
  • This role is pivotal in supporting PNNL's strategic planning for site, facility, and infrastructure, addressing both immediate and future capability needs. It ensures a cohesive approach to the maintenance, operation, and planning of facilities through the alignment of strategic initiatives and budgetary proposals.
  • Directs the strategic addition or removal of facilities and infrastructure to enhance current and future investments. Develops, recommends, and ensures adherence to established standards and policies.
  • Precision and adherence to timelines are essential in the Campus Planning division due to the responsibility for maintaining updates to contracts, service agreements, interlaboratory agreements, and leasing actions.
  • Comprehends the scientific vision in relation to the existing state of land, facilities, and infrastructure while managing campus maps, surveys, easements, and other requirements to support investment and strategy execution.
  • The Strategic Facilities and Infrastructure Planner will act as a subject matter expert, interpreting both internal and external business and regulatory challenges, providing insights and recommendations based on industry trends and best practices.
  • May lead teams or projects with moderate complexity and risk, ensuring successful delivery within defined scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Collaborates with all research and support divisions within PNNL.
  • Capable of managing and maintaining processes while engaging with senior leadership and management.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within diverse teams.
  • Skilled in cultivating positive relationships and influencing outcomes to achieve results.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex facility and infrastructure challenges.
  • Considers risks and ensures compliance with established procedures and policies. Responsible for the maintenance and updating of procedures relevant to this role.
  • This position may serve as a backup and potential successor to the Facilities Information Management System (FIMS) administrator.
  • General understanding of operational processes, subcontracting, and financial systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience -OR-
  • Master’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in analyzing facility-related data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Familiarity with facility systems and infrastructure.

Additional Information

Due to operational requirements, U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory adheres to the Department of Energy's Unclassified Foreign National Access Program, which governs access to site information, technologies, and equipment.

Testing Designated Position

This role is not classified as a Testing Designated Position (TDP).
