Job Overview

The role of a Runner at Crux Fermentation Project is vital in delivering exceptional customer service. Runners are skilled in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and efficient sanitation practices. Responsibilities include assisting with cleaning glassware at the bar, delivering food and beverages to patrons, and supporting outdoor activities such as managing fire pits and assisting guests with parking.

Occasionally, Runners may be assigned to packaging shifts at our production facility, where tasks involve removing cans from the labeler, returning them to the can line, and stacking beer cases onto pallets.

Key Responsibilities

Essential duties for Runners include:

  • Setting up and closing down the tasting room according to assigned checklists.
  • Familiarizing oneself with the food menu and its ingredients.
  • Understanding the beer menu, recognizing beer colors, and learning about different beer styles.
  • Participating in monthly training and educational meetings.
  • Assisting servers and bartenders by delivering food and drinks efficiently.
  • Adhering to the "full hands in, full hands out" principle.
  • Communicating with guests about service procedures at Crux Fermentation Project.
  • Gaining comprehensive knowledge of the brewery's history and ownership.
  • Monitoring guests for signs of intoxication and communicating with service staff as necessary.
  • Arriving punctually and prepared for work, checking in with the lead and team to determine priorities.
  • Addressing any guest dissatisfaction by communicating with a floor supervisor.
  • Providing parking assistance when required.
  • Supporting brewers during packaging shifts as needed.
  • Performing other assigned tasks as directed.

Education and Experience

  • Experience in food service, preferably in a brewery or restaurant setting.
Job Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Certifications: OLCC Service Permit and Oregon Food Handler's Permit.
  • A commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace.
  • Reliable transportation for work-related duties.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements

Candidates should be able to:

  • Perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently.
  • Bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces occasionally.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat).
  • Handle hot, cold, and wet environments.
  • Lift 25-50 lbs. as needed.
