Position Overview

Abacus Technology Corporation is in search of a Cloud Architect to enhance the IT and business framework for the eMITS program at NASA Headquarters. This is a full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze technology advancements and provide insights on essential cloud infrastructure services, software technologies, and secure, efficient methods to fulfill NASA's needs for information sharing, outreach, and collaboration.
  • Offer strategic recommendations based on contemporary cloud service models for enhancements related to Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS), encompassing all facets of NASA's software ecosystem including operations, architecture, supporting software, configuration management, and security.
  • Assess cloud deployment strategies and advise on product selection and documentation to ensure compatibility with NASA's cloud environment and compliance with security standards.
  • Guide optimization of cloud environments and service performance to align with customer requirements.
  • Create models and architectural frameworks for both current and future system developments.
  • Advise on cost-effective strategies for utilizing the most efficient cloud infrastructure.
  • Articulate and disseminate a unified technical and architectural vision for cloud solutions developed by the Shared Services ART.
  • Document, update, and maintain the architecture of the cloud system.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and the Release Train Engineer (RTE) to provide direction to the Shared Services ART.
  • Engage with Agile Teams (including Product Owners and Scrum Master/Team Coaches) to ensure that system design evolves in accordance with a collective architectural vision and practical implementation realities.
  • Identify enablers and architectural runway for the Shared Services ART to enhance team agility and adaptability in system modifications.
  • Participate in defining solutions and recommending non-functional requirements.
  • Support architectural experimentation and exploratory initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with ART teams to achieve optimal system design.
  • Align architectural intentions with practical implementation outcomes.
  • Encourage system designs that promote Built-in Quality.
  • Lead a small team of Customer Relationship Managers.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems architecture. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Certifications such as CISSP or Certified FISMA Compliance Practitioner (CFCP) are preferred. Proficiency in cloud architecture with experience in two or more of the following: PaaS, SaaS, IaC, operation of Amazon/AWS cloud services, Azure cloud services, Google cloud services, cloud service models, and Google Analytics. Exceptional communication skills are essential. Familiarity with SAFe principles and practices is necessary. Experience with Atlassian products (Jira) is advantageous. Highly skilled in Microsoft Office365 and SharePoint. Ability to learn governmental processes and demonstrate self-motivation. Experience as a SAFE product owner is a plus. Extensive experience in a collaborative, team-oriented environment is required. Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
