Abacus Technology Corporation is in search of a Cloud Architect to enhance the IT and business framework within the eMITS program at NASA Headquarters. This is a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze emerging technology trends and propose enhancements for essential cloud infrastructure services, software technologies, and secure, efficient methods to fulfill NASA's information sharing, outreach, and collaboration needs.
  • Advise on the latest cloud service models for system upgrades and enhancements, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS), covering all facets of NASA's software ecosystem such as operations, architecture, supporting software, configuration management, and security.
  • Assess cloud deployment strategies and provide recommendations on product selection and documentation to ensure compatibility with NASA's cloud environment and adherence to security standards.
  • Offer insights on optimizing cloud environments and service performance to align with customer requirements.
  • Create models and architectural guidelines for both current and future system developments.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities by leveraging the most efficient cloud infrastructure.
  • Articulate and disseminate a unified technical and architectural vision for cloud solutions developed by the Shared Services ART.
  • Document, update, and manage the cloud system architecture.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and the Release Train Engineer (RTE) to guide the Shared Services ART.
  • Engage with Agile Teams, including Product Owners and Scrum Masters, to ensure system design aligns with a collective architectural vision and practical implementation realities.
  • Define enablers and architectural runway for the Shared Services ART to enhance team agility and adaptability in system changes.
  • Participate in solution formulation and suggest non-functional requirements.
  • Support architectural experiments and exploratory initiatives.
  • Work alongside ART teams to optimize system design.
  • Align architectural intentions with practical implementation.
  • Encourage system designs that incorporate Built-in Quality principles.
  • Lead a small team of Customer Relationship Managers.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems architecture. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Desired certifications include CISSP or Certified FISMA Compliance Practitioner (CFCP). Proven experience in cloud architecture utilizing multiple platforms such as PaaS, SaaS, IaC, and operation of Amazon/AWS, Azure, or Google cloud services. Excellent communication skills are essential. Familiarity with SAFe principles and practices is required. Experience with Atlassian products (Jira) is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office365 and SharePoint is necessary. Ability to learn governmental processes and demonstrate self-starting capabilities is important. Experience as a SAFE product owner is advantageous. Extensive experience in a collaborative, team-oriented environment is required. Candidates must be U.S. citizens.
