Abacus Technology Corporation is in search of a Cloud Architect to enhance the IT and business infrastructure within the eMITS program at NASA Headquarters. This role is a full-time commitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze emerging technology trends and provide insights on essential cloud infrastructure services, software technologies, and effective, secure methods to fulfill NASA's needs for information sharing, outreach, and collaboration.
  • Advise on the latest cloud service models for enhancements and upgrades, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS), covering all aspects of NASA's software ecosystem such as operations, architecture, supporting software, configuration management, and security.
  • Assess cloud deployment models and guide the selection of products and documentation to ensure compatibility with NASA's cloud environment and compliance with security standards.
  • Offer expertise on optimizing cloud environments and service performance to align with customer requirements.
  • Create models and architectural guidelines for ongoing and future system development.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities by leveraging the most efficient cloud infrastructure.
  • Articulate and disseminate a unified technical and architectural vision for cloud solutions developed by the Shared Services ART.
  • Document, update, and manage the cloud system architecture.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and the Release Train Engineer (RTE) to guide the Shared Services ART.
  • Engage with Agile Teams, including Product Owners and Scrum Masters, to ensure system design evolves in accordance with a shared architectural vision and practical implementation realities.
  • Define enablers and architectural runway for the Shared Services ART to enhance team agility and adaptability in system changes.
  • Participate in solution definition and recommend non-functional requirements.
  • Support architectural experiments and exploratory initiatives.
  • Work alongside ART teams to optimize system design.
  • Align architectural goals with implementation realities.
  • Encourage system designs that promote Built-in Quality.
  • Lead a small team of Customer Relationship Managers.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems architecture. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Certifications such as CISSP or Certified FISMA Compliance Practitioner (CFCP) are preferred. Proficiency in cloud architecture utilizing two or more of the following: PaaS, SaaS, IaC, operation of Amazon/AWS cloud services, Azure cloud services, Google cloud services, cloud service models, and Google Analytics is essential. Excellent communication skills are a must. Familiarity with SAFe principles and practices is required. Experience with Atlassian products (Jira) is beneficial. High proficiency in Microsoft Office365 and SharePoint is expected. Ability to learn governmental processes and demonstrate self-initiative is crucial. Experience as a SAFE product owner is preferred. Extensive experience in a collaborative, team-oriented environment is necessary. U.S. citizenship is required.
