Position Overview

Abacus Technology Corporation is in search of a Cloud Architect to enhance the IT and business framework within the eMITS program at NASA Headquarters. This is a full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze technology trends and propose enhancements related to core cloud infrastructure services; software technologies; and secure, efficient methods to fulfill NASA's needs for information sharing, outreach, and collaboration.
  • Advise on the latest cloud service models for upgrades and enhancements, focusing on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS), encompassing all aspects of NASA's software ecosystem including operations, architecture, supporting software, configuration management, and security.
  • Assess cloud deployment models and provide recommendations on product selection and documentation to ensure compatibility with NASA's cloud environment and adherence to security standards.
  • Guide the optimization of cloud environments and service performance to align with customer requirements.
  • Create models and architectural guidelines for ongoing and future system development.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through the utilization of optimized cloud infrastructure.
  • Articulate and communicate a unified technical and architectural vision for cloud solutions developed by the Shared Services ART.
  • Diagram, update, and maintain the architecture of the cloud system.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and the Release Train Engineer (RTE) to provide strategic guidance to the Shared Services ART.
  • Engage with Agile Teams (including Product Owners and Scrum Masters) to ensure that system design evolves in accordance with a shared architectural vision and practical implementation realities.
  • Define enablers and architectural runway for the Shared Services ART to enhance team agility and adaptability in system changes.
  • Participate in solution definition and recommend non-functional requirements.
  • Support architectural experiments and exploratory initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with ART teams on optimal system design.
  • Align architectural vision with practical implementation.
  • Encourage system design that promotes Built-in Quality.
  • Lead a small team of Customer Relationship Managers.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in systems architecture. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Certifications such as CISSP or Certified FISMA Compliance Practitioner (CFCP) are preferred. Experience in cloud architecture utilizing two or more of the following: PaaS, SaaS, IaC, operation of Amazon/AWS cloud services, Azure cloud services, Google cloud services, cloud service models, Google Analytics. Excellent communication skills are essential. A solid understanding of SAFe principles and practices is required. Experience with Atlassian products (Jira) is necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office365 and SharePoint is expected. Ability to learn governmental processes and demonstrate self-starter qualities is crucial. Experience as a SAFE product owner is advantageous. Extensive experience in a collaborative, team-oriented environment is required. Must be a U.S. citizen.
