About Us: Shyft6 is launching a state-of-the-art laboratory in the Houston market, focusing on molecular diagnostics with plans to expand into blood testing. Our mission is to provide cutting-edge diagnostic services to healthcare providers, improving patient outcomes through accurate and timely testing.

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Laboratory Manager to lead the operations of our new facility. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong background in molecular diagnostics, capable of building and managing a high-performing team, and ensuring the efficient operation of our lab.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  • Perform and supervise molecular diagnostic testing using advanced equipment, including the Quant Studio and other related technologies.
  • Build and manage a team of laboratory technicians and scientists, providing mentorship, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are in optimal working condition.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols for lab processes.
  • Collaborate with senior management to plan and execute the lab's expansion into blood testing and other diagnostic services.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering and tracking laboratory supplies.
  • Ensure the lab meets all health and safety standards, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in molecular diagnostics and laboratory technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced molecular testing equipment, including the Quant Studio.
  • Strong knowledge of molecular diagnostics, PCR, and other related techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP) and laboratory best practices.
