Position Summary:
This role is contingent upon contract award. The Medical Laboratory Supervisor is tasked with overseeing laboratory operations, including blood bank management and laboratory practices across all project sites. This position ensures compliance with essential regulatory standards such as Joint Commission, COLA, CLIA, CMS, OSHA, HIPAA, and Quality Improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific discipline with relevant clinical laboratory training.
  • Current certification from a recognized national registry (e.g., MT(ASCP)).
  • Preferred: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Proficiency in English for effective communication.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Willingness to relocate as necessary.
  • A valid passport is mandatory and must be maintained during the assignment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Two years of supervisory experience in a hospital laboratory setting.
  • Experience in military or government contracting environments is advantageous.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Current expertise in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Urinalysis.
  • Ability to train and evaluate laboratory personnel effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills for complex testing and interpretation of results.
  • Knowledge of laboratory accreditation requirements (COLA, CLIA).
  • Commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and computerized systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats.
  • Flexibility to work in a diverse cultural environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior management to establish goals and priorities for the laboratory unit.
  • Develop and implement protocols for blood bank operations.
  • Oversee laboratory quality control procedures and compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare detailed reports on laboratory activities and performance metrics.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of laboratory supplies.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information and uphold professional standards.

Personnel Management:

  • Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of laboratory staff.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness exercises and training.
