Opportunity & Role Overview
The Chief Financial Strategist will play a crucial role in refining the financial operations in close collaboration with the CEO. As the organization expands both organically and through acquisitions, this position will be responsible for developing a highly efficient finance team. The role encompasses leading financial strategy, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), accounting, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) integration as a strategic finance leader.

Key Responsibilities
• Optimize and maintain a premier finance function
• Establish and refine all necessary finance operations, including recruiting finance talent as needed for Alpine-X and the firms we support.

• Leverage and select suitable technology solutions to enhance daily financial management, KPI reporting, and improve financial operations.

• Build and lead a team of top-tier professionals.

• Streamline financial performance and reporting for Alpine-X and our partner firms.
• Effectively manage third-party financial operations and audits, including developing robust internal controls.


• Identify a unified set of KPIs to discuss business performance and coach Alpine-X to articulate these metrics.

• Develop an automated, real-time dashboard of KPIs to empower leaders across Alpine-X to consistently optimize performance.

• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes with a focus on accuracy, transparency, risk/reward assessment, and critical decision-making.

Disciplined Cost Management:
Alpine-X operates with a prudent spending approach; opportunities for cost savings are identified and realized. Negotiate and optimize pricing/contracts with all vendors while fostering a culture of strong financial cost controls throughout the organization.

Disciplined Liquidity/Cash Management:
Optimize cash management and net working capital strategies.

  • Cash Flow Forecast: Maintain consistent 13-week forward-looking cash projections and manage the treasury function effectively.
Proactively communicate any cash constraints to the board with adequate lead time.

  • Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable: Ensure timely collections and cash management by establishing the right processes, policies, and systems.
Enhance accounts payable through systematic renegotiations.
Be a trusted advisor to the CEO in shaping the strategic direction of the business, resulting in improved performance at both the Alpine-X and partner firm levels.
Collaborate with the CEO on strategic decisions to drive growth.

Together, manage the business while supporting (as appropriate) regular meetings with finance staff, operations teams, leadership teams, and the Board.

Take accountability for achieving employee net promoter scores biannually exceeding 40.

Drive the business towards a high net return on exit.

Contribute to discussions surrounding critical financial decisions regarding capital allocation and revenue growth versus EBITDA.

Partner in developing vision and strategy for immediate and long-term planning execution, etc.

Support a high-velocity inorganic expansion and M&A function to drive growth

Collaborate with the M&A team and firm recruiting teams/managing partners to structure accretive deals that align with equity returns and model projections.

Ensure efficient and thoughtful financial integration of all acquired companies within 90 days.

Foster and maintain successful relationships with external stakeholders

Integrate with Alpine-X finance teams to leverage their systems and processes, ensuring compliance with all external reporting, audit, and other requirements.

Provide support for deal negotiations and demonstrate the financial stability of the organization.

Assist in raising debt capital to support investment strategies and objectives, including a strong understanding of debt markets, financing structures, and negotiation skills to secure favorable terms.

Manage debt covenants.

Exit Storyteller:
Validate the communication of Alpine-X's vision to prospective buyers through proof points in financial results and KPIs.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; MBA preferred.

• 8+ years of progressive experience in finance roles.

• Proven track record as a CFO in a private equity-backed organization, successfully guiding the company through a complete exit strategy.

• Experience in public accounting, consulting, or law firms preferred.

• Background in an operating company, ideally in a high-growth environment.

• Expertise in FP&A; deep understanding of working capital management and forecasting.

• Demonstrated history of streamlining processes, implementing strategic data dashboards, and optimizing efficiency.

• Exposure to M&A financial integration; experience with financial integration within 90 days.

• Comprehensive understanding of strategic finance and accounting; experience managing audits.

• Strong relationships with lenders, auditors, investment bankers; experience managing debt covenants.

• In-depth understanding of strategic levers and KPIs affecting top and bottom lines.

• Proven ability to attract, evaluate, retain, and develop top talent.

Alpine-X anticipates the base salary to range from $250,000 - $325,000+ and will depend on current market data and the candidate's qualifications for the role, including education and experience.

The compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described based on several factors.

This role is also eligible for bonuses and equity.
