Job Overview

We are in search of a skilled and seasoned Senior Financial Executive who will also oversee Human Resources, to become a pivotal part of our leadership team at Arkansas Foodbank. This role is essential in defining the financial direction, planning, and operational strategies of the organization. Key responsibilities include managing budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and ensuring adherence to all financial regulations.

The Senior Financial Executive will collaborate closely with the executive team to enhance financial sustainability, pinpoint growth opportunities, and optimize resource distribution to align with the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, develop, and execute all financial functions and related administrative processes for Arkansas Foodbank, ensuring that precise, sufficient, and timely financial data is prepared and maintained for the Board of Directors, internal management, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Human Resource personnel to facilitate effective talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and the overall people strategy for Arkansas Foodbank.
  • Ensure the financial viability and sustainability of the organization while nurturing a productive and engaging workplace culture.
  • Design, implement, evaluate, and refine internal controls over financial processes.
  • Maintain a high level of accountability and compliance with established procedures in managing federally funded programs.
  • Participate in meetings of the Board of Directors and its various committees as required.
  • Act as the staff representative to the Board of Directors finance and investment committees.
  • Provide guidance, training, and technical support to staff and volunteers in bookkeeping, accounting, and office procedures.
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax filings.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and other relevant staff, prepare the annual budget proposal for presentation to the Board of Directors.
  • Continuously improve the budgeting process through educating department managers on financial issues affecting their budgets.
  • Establish administrative purchasing protocols and oversee purchasing functions.
  • Supervise activities and responsibilities managed by subordinate employees.
  • Review, assess, and manage the organization's business insurance requirements.
  • Maintain records of rental and lease agreements for properties and equipment.
  • Engage as a member of the management team, attend team meetings, and provide support to other areas of the organization as needed.
  • Represent the organization at relevant community and industry meetings.
  • Stay informed about current events and issues that may impact organizational programs.
  • Participate as a member of the management team in organizational planning, development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and adjustment.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, training sessions, and conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position operates in a professional office environment. The employee may frequently be exposed to various weather conditions. This role typically utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; communicate in person and via telephone; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift/move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional certification - Certified Public Accountant is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance in a senior management capacity.
  • Experience in managing Human Resources is preferred.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience in team management.
  • Proficient in computer operations, including accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • A valid driver's license and proof of insurance are required.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
