The Chief Financial Officer plays a crucial role in steering the financial and human resources strategies of the organization. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial and accounting records while overseeing human resources functions. Responsibilities include budget management, financial analysis, reporting, grant oversight, and maintaining cost control.

The Chief Financial Officer is an essential member of the HR & Finance department, collaborating with team members to implement innovative strategies, programs, or initiatives. This individual will be adept at learning new technologies and eager to utilize Arkansas Foodbank's software systems. Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to alleviating hunger are vital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, develop, and execute all financial functions and related administrative processes for Arkansas Foodbank, ensuring timely and accurate financial information is available for the Board of Directors, internal management, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Human Resource personnel to facilitate effective talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and overall workforce strategy.
  • Ensure the financial stability and sustainability of the organization while nurturing a productive workplace culture.
  • Design, implement, and refine internal controls over financial operations.
  • Maintain a high level of accountability and compliance with established procedures in managing federally funded programs.
  • Participate in Board of Directors meetings and its various committees as needed.
  • Act as a staff representative to the finance and investment committees of the Board of Directors.
  • Provide guidance, training, and technical support to staff and volunteers in bookkeeping, accounting, and office procedures.
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax submissions.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and relevant staff, prepare the annual budget proposal for the Board of Directors.
  • Enhance the budgeting process through educating department managers on financial issues affecting their budgets.
  • Establish purchasing procedures and oversee procurement functions.
  • Supervise activities and responsibilities managed by subordinate employees.
  • Review and manage the organization's business insurance requirements.
  • Maintain records of rental and lease agreements for properties and equipment.
  • Engage as a member of the management team, attending team meetings and supporting other areas of the Foodbank as necessary.
  • Represent Arkansas Foodbank at relevant community and Feeding America meetings.
  • Stay informed about current events and issues that may affect Foodbank programs.
  • Contribute to organizational planning, development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and adjustment as part of the management team.
  • Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and conferences.
Position Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred; however, other relevant education and/or experience may be considered upon approval:

  • Master's degree in accounting, business administration, or finance preferred.
  • Professional certification - Certified Public Accountant required.
  • Five years of supervisory experience required.
  • Proficient in computer operations, particularly Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office setting. The employee may frequently encounter wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, and general outdoor weather. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines are routinely used. While performing job duties, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; communicate both in person and via telephone; use hands repetitively for standard office tasks; reach with hands and arms; and lift/move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
