DCWP also engages in research and advocates for public policies that support the needs of New York City's communities.

**Position Overview:** DCWP is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Investigative Settlement Specialist within the General Counsel Division.

Under general supervision, the Investigative Settlement Specialist will conduct intricate research activities to evaluate and draft written settlement proposals, facilitate settlement discussions, and finalize settlement agreements with businesses regarding various violations issued by DCWP.


**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Conduct research activities by gathering current and historical data for reports that may be utilized in administrative tribunal hearings.
  • Collect source materials through record examination and personal interviews.
  • Maintain factual and statistical records using DCWP's web-based Accela software.
  • Respond to information requests via email and correspondence that require thorough research.
  • Perform historical analyses and compile comprehensive reports.

**Minimum Qualifications:**


  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and six months of relevant full-time research experience involving data collection, organization, analysis, and report writing; or
  • An associate degree from an accredited institution, or completion of 60 semester credits, along with two years and six months of relevant full-time research experience; or
  • A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent, with four years and six months of relevant full-time research experience; or
  • Equivalent education and experience as described above.

Undergraduate college credits may substitute for experience at a rate of 30 semester credits for one year of full-time experience.

Completion of nine credits in statistics, quantitative methods, mathematics, or research may substitute for six months of the required experience.

All candidates must possess a four-year high school diploma or its equivalent and at least six months of required experience or the nine specialized credits.

**Preferred Skills:**


  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Microsoft Excel; attention to detail is essential
  • Familiarity with Internet research and Accela software is advantageous
  • Experience with case preparation for administrative tribunals is a plus.

**55A Program:** This position is also open to qualified individuals with disabilities who are eligible for the 55-a Program.

**Public Service Loan Forgiveness:** As a potential employee of the City of New York, you may qualify for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance initiatives.

**Residency Requirement:** New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment, although certain City employees with two continuous years of service may be eligible to reside in specific counties.
