The Role:

As the Director of Business Analytics, you will spearhead the Business Analytics team, tasked with delivering insightful analyses and data-driven recommendations that empower the organization with timely and actionable intelligence. This pivotal role is essential in utilizing data-driven insights to drive tangible business outcomes in a fast-paced industry. Proficiency in data analysis and strong leadership capabilities are vital to guide the organization in achieving its strategic objectives. This position operates in a hybrid model, with a combination of in-office and remote work, and reports directly to the VP of FP&A.

Your Contributions to Vivid Seats' Success:

  • Analytics Strategy: Formulate and oversee strategies that promote data-driven decision-making across pricing, marketing, product development, and ticketing platforms.
  • Data Strategy: Direct the provision of clean, user-friendly data throughout the organization, collaborating closely with Data Engineering and the broader Technology team.
  • Data Accessibility: Manage business intelligence tools (Looker, Tableau) to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and availability.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish and maintain structures for tracking daily and weekly performance trends, with ongoing adjustments and recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various departments and business leaders to understand their data requirements, providing effective support to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and technologies. Propose and implement enhancements in data, reporting, and analytical tools and processes. Inspire the team to function as a top-tier analytics unit.
  • Leadership: Provide strategic direction for the Business Analytics team, setting overarching goals and priorities while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Mentor and develop a team of analytics professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.

Expectations for the First 30, 90, and 180 Days:

30 Days:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of ticket marketplace operations and the business model, focusing on marketplace dynamics and the analytical needs of various teams.
  • Acclimate to team and company norms, business objectives, and Vivid Seats values, conducting an assessment of the current state of affairs.
  • Conduct an in-depth review of data sources and systems, familiarizing yourself with the tools used for data access and reporting.
  • Engage with team members to understand their responsibilities and evaluate existing processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Identify key competencies, needs, gaps, and challenges related to data and reporting across the organization.

90 Days:

  • Implement organizational and process improvements as necessary.
  • Set and prioritize objectives for the team, fostering an insightful analytical culture.
  • Enhance team integration through direct guidance and support, cultivating a strong team environment.
  • Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to establish best practices, including the potential need for a formalized data governance framework.

180 Days:

  • Act as the strategic owner of the analytics function, delivering value to the organization.
  • Develop strong partnerships with stakeholders and regularly engage with key constituents.
  • Establish standards and best practices within the Business Analytics team to ensure high-quality reporting, analysis, and actionable recommendations.
  • Initiate a data governance process across the organization.
  • Set team goals for the upcoming year that align with overall business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of 8 years leading a high-performing analytics team, with progressive experience in analytics and hands-on data methods.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to quickly grasp technical concepts.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools and techniques (e.g., Looker, Tableau, SQL, Power BI, Python); experience with Google Analytics is a plus.
  • Solid background in statistical analysis and analytical methods to derive insights.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of distilling complex data sets into clear, concise recommendations.
  • Ability to accurately scope tasks and projects, orchestrating the right people and processes to achieve objectives while remaining adaptable to changes.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on mentorship, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and establish trust with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • A desire to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic industry.
