Position Summary:

The Family Engagement Specialist will report to the Senior Program Director of College Academy and will be instrumental in designing, coordinating, and executing a family engagement initiative aimed at boosting parental involvement among IYT participants and their families. This role is pivotal in enhancing family participation across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive Family Engagement Program.
  • Organize and facilitate family engagement workshops, both in-person and online.
  • Lead Parent Leadership Councils.
  • Conduct parent orientation sessions at educational institutions.
  • Coordinate community events focused on family engagement.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee parent and community volunteers.
  • Provide families and program participants with information about community resources.
  • Raise awareness of academic support available for students facing challenges.
  • Familiarize oneself with intervention programs addressing the needs of at-promise students.
  • Establish meaningful relationships with students, families, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Collect and manage data related to family engagement efforts.
  • Collaborate with program staff to enhance family engagement strategies and address the needs of students and their families.

Qualifications:

  • Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of IYT.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work effectively with others.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on achieving results.
  • Excellent multitasking abilities, particularly under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Microsoft Suite is preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in an educational environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the capacity to inspire others.
  • Experience working with young men of color and their families in educational settings is preferred.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM, with occasional weekends and evenings to accommodate families.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $66,560 to $70,000 per year, based on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, a 403(b) retirement plan with a 3% employer match after one year, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), two weeks of paid vacation, and paid time off during school breaks.
