Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Full Time / Direct Hire)

We are in search of a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly and production methodologies.

This role is pivotal in enhancing and sustaining our SMT assembly and manufacturing workflows. The successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, and cost management throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Enhancement and Efficiency:

  • Evaluate and analyze SMT assembly operations to pinpoint improvement opportunities.
  • Execute process modifications aimed at boosting efficiency, yield, and first-pass quality.
  • Create and uphold comprehensive process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for SMT assembly.
  • Conduct root cause investigations to identify and rectify production defects and quality challenges.

Equipment Oversight:

  • Program and manage SMT machinery, including screen printers, pick-and-place systems, reflow ovens, and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) devices.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to guarantee optimal functionality and preventive maintenance of SMT equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues to minimize production downtime.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Formulate and implement quality control protocols for SMT assembly, in compliance with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610).
  • Analyze AOI and X-ray inspection results to detect and address potential quality concerns.
  • Engage with suppliers to ensure the quality and reliability of incoming SMT components.

Production Assistance:

  • Provide technical guidance to production staff regarding SMT assembly processes and equipment operation.
  • Examine production metrics to identify trends and opportunities for throughput and yield enhancement.
  • Support the development and execution of new SMT assembly processes for product introductions.

Project Leadership:

  • Oversee and direct SMT-related engineering initiatives, ensuring timely execution and budget compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, production, and quality assurance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in SMT assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong knowledge of IPC standards and quality control principles.
  • Proficient in operating and programming SMT machinery (screen printers, pick-and-place systems, reflow ovens, AOI devices).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience with data analysis and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma) is a plus.
