We are in search of a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to enhance and sustain our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly and manufacturing methodologies. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, and cost management throughout the production workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

Process Enhancement and Streamlining:

  • Examine and assess SMT assembly methodologies to pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Execute process modifications to boost efficiency, yield, and first-pass quality.
  • Create and uphold comprehensive process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for SMT assembly.
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify and rectify production defects and quality challenges.

Equipment Oversight:

  • Program and operate SMT machinery, including screen printers, pick-and-place devices, reflow ovens, and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to guarantee optimal performance and preventive maintenance of SMT machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to minimize operational downtime.

Quality Management and Assurance:

  • Develop and enforce quality management procedures for SMT assembly, complying with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610).
  • Analyze and interpret AOI and X-ray inspection data to identify and mitigate potential quality concerns.
  • Engage with suppliers to ensure the quality and consistency of incoming SMT components.

Production Assistance:

  • Provide technical guidance to production staff on SMT assembly methodologies and equipment operation.
  • Analyze production metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in throughput and yield.
  • Support the development and implementation of new SMT assembly methodologies for product introductions.

Project Leadership:

  • Oversee and direct SMT-related engineering projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, production, and quality assurance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in SMT assembly and manufacturing methodologies.
  • Strong comprehension of IPC standards and quality management principles.
  • Proficient in operating and programming SMT machinery (screen printers, pick-and-place devices, reflow ovens, AOI systems).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Experience with data analysis and process enhancement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma) is advantageous.
