We are in search of a driven Manufacturing Engineer to enhance and sustain our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly and manufacturing operations. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, and cost management throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Enhancement and Optimization:
- Examine and assess SMT assembly operations to pinpoint improvement opportunities.
- Execute process modifications to boost efficiency, yield, and first-pass quality.
- Create and uphold comprehensive process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for SMT assembly.
- Perform root cause analysis to detect and resolve production defects and quality challenges.
Equipment Oversight:
- Program and manage SMT machinery, including screen printers, pick-and-place systems, reflow ovens, and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to guarantee optimal functionality and preventive maintenance of SMT machinery.
- Diagnose and rectify equipment issues to minimize production interruptions.
Quality Control and Assurance:
- Establish and execute quality control protocols for SMT assembly, complying with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610).
- Interpret AOI and X-ray inspection results to identify and resolve potential quality concerns.
- Engage with suppliers to ensure the quality and uniformity of incoming SMT components.
Production Assistance:
- Offer technical guidance to production staff on SMT assembly methods and equipment usage.
- Analyze production metrics to uncover trends and improvement opportunities in throughput and yield.
- Support the development and rollout of new SMT assembly processes for product introductions.
Project Leadership:
- Oversee and direct SMT-related engineering initiatives, ensuring timely execution and budget compliance.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, production, and quality assurance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (preferred).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in SMT assembly and manufacturing operations.
- Solid understanding of IPC standards and quality assurance principles.
- Proficient in operating and programming SMT machinery (screen printers, pick-and-place systems, reflow ovens, AOI equipment).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Experience with data analysis and process improvement techniques (e.g., Six Sigma) is advantageous.
