Personal Lines Underwriting Manager

At American Modern Insurance Group, a subsidiary of Munich Re, we are seeking a highly skilled Personal Lines Underwriting Manager to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for developing talent and driving key deliverables to ensure sound quality decisions and support top-line growth and bottom-line profitability objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coach and develop a team of Personal Lines Residential Underwriters to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to make sound, timely decisions.
  • Support adherence to risk management policies and procedures, and manage service level objectives and risk quality selection.
  • Network with other functional departments to resolve issues and build a team-oriented approach.
  • Foster an environment that includes active listening, team building, and dynamic dialog resulting in increased employee engagement.
  • Lead process improvement and workflow efficiency initiatives, and ensure a culture of compliance through systems, audit, and training.
  • Performance management through continuous conversations and associate development, and support sales and business development both internally and externally.
  • Utilize data and analytics to manage performance and drive efficiencies, and drive strategic vision and lead projects for Personal Lines Underwriting.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of underwriting experience, with strongly preferred 2+ years supervising exempt associates, teams or process, preferably in underwriting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with preferred experience with Cognos and Power BI.
