We have an opportunity for an Underwriting Support Specialist in the excess and surplus lines sector to assist underwriters in various aspects of new business entry, renewals, and post-issuance processes. This role offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for both in-office and remote work.
Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $20.00, with pay determined by the applicant's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on individual and company performance.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Process new business, renewals, and post-bind transactions within our policy administration and broker management systems.
  • Assist underwriters throughout all stages of the account, from initial data collection to ongoing service and maintenance.
  • Provide backup support to underwriters and fellow underwriting assistants.
  • Deliver prompt customer service to our agency partners.
  • Order and review various reports as required during the underwriting process.
  • Support state compliance as necessary.
  • Perform additional clerical tasks to assist underwriters.
Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who possess:
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Capability to follow instructions provided in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivation and productivity with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to navigate web-based applications.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • AINS certification is preferred, with completion within three years of employment acceptable.
  • Completion of the ASLI designation is encouraged after obtaining AINS certification.
  • Familiarity with the commercial insurance ratings process is beneficial but not mandatory.
