The IT division at Airtable is on the lookout for an IT Systems Engineer to aid in the integration of Airtable with current systems and to enhance its internal enterprise utilization.

In this capacity, you will become a vital member of Airtable's internal deployment team.

Your expertise in Airtable and integration will be pivotal in boosting internal adoption and expanding existing applications to improve functionality and security.


Your primary responsibilities will include:

driving increased adoption and enhancing internal applications developed on Airtable to leverage new features and improvements, delivering training and development for IT staff, and evaluating new SaaS use cases for development on Airtable.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate the intake, prioritization, and execution of Airtable requests from various business units.

IT Engineering:
Educate fellow IT engineers on developing and maintaining complex Airtable solutions. Refine existing IT workflows to utilize Airtable automations, thereby enhancing IT's efficiency and performance.

Service Desk:
Collaborate closely with IT Support to improve Airtable-connected applications and maintain existing integrations.

New Workflows:

Assist employees or teams seeking support for business processes that were traditionally managed through spreadsheets, third-party SaaS, or locally maintained bases.

Thoroughly comprehend and accurately document intricate workflow requirements.

New Feature Implementation:
Regularly enhance the capabilities of existing bases by incorporating new features as they become available. Develop solution design and implementation plans that detail project scope, timelines, deliverables, and milestones.

Create resources and materials to support end users and business advocates.

Produce documentation and training materials for centrally governed connected applications.

Conduct formal training sessions for IT personnel.

Gather, document, and relay feedback to product development regarding functionality and user experience.

Identify critical feature gaps that hinder the use of Airtable for specific business workflows.

Provide contextual insights regarding the scope, severity, and frequency of impacts resulting from product limitations or performance issues.

Design and implement automation to ensure IT processes are repeatable, scalable, and secure.


Write standalone code to interface with webhooks or create API integrations to optimize and connect our SaaS applications with each other and with Airtable.

Guide decisions on whether to build or buy integrations and tools for IT and other departments.

Administer, develop, and support Airtable's corporate-connected applications built on Airtable. Train additional engineers to ensure redundancy in support.

Implement Airtable's best practices across supported connected applications.

Who you are:

8+ years of experience in IT Engineering.

Solution-oriented: Your contributions will have a significant impact across Airtable.

You possess experience in administering and developing SaaS applications and services, including Google Workspace and Slack.

You are comfortable with modern development practices and the development lifecycle, with experience in Scrum, Kanban, Lean, or other agile methodologies.

5+ years of experience in gathering user requirements, developing custom business solutions, and managing distributed systems.

5+ years of project management experience (PMP certification preferred).

Proven success in working within cross-functional teams and liaising between IT and business stakeholders.

Aptitude for systemic thinking, navigating complexity, and prioritizing tasks effectively.

Exceptional visual, written, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to distill complex topics and trade-off decisions into clear and actionable summaries.

You are knowledgeable in database design best practices.

You have experience writing shell, Python, or JavaScript code to interface with APIs and set up automation.

You demonstrate strong project management skills and the ability to establish realistic timelines.

You are a highly collaborative team player who adapts well in cross-functional environments.

You can operate effectively in ambiguous situations.

You possess a comprehensive understanding of the full operation of a Services organization.
