Cybersecurity Incident Response Analyst

Candidate Profile:
- Security-Cleared Expert: You possess a valid Top Secret clearance or a fully adjudicated Secret clearance, with the capability to obtain and maintain an Interim Top Secret clearance.
- Experienced Professional: Holding a bachelor’s degree and 4 to 8 years of relevant experience, you are equipped to operate effectively within the expected scope. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- Certified Specialist: You are proactive and excel in examinations, maintaining at least one of the following certifications:
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
- GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)
- Other pertinent IT certifications
- Analytical Thinker: Your strong understanding of cybersecurity is evident. You are adept at identifying and resolving incidents, including high-profile cases.
- Incident Tracker: You excel at tracing incidents using frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK or Cyber Kill Chain methodologies.
- Flexible Contributor: You are open to working extended hours and participating in an on-call rotation for SOC escalation as required.
Role Responsibilities:
- Execute established operational protocols and standards for Security Operations Center (SOC) analysts.
- Support continuous operations of the NOAA SOC, ensuring adequate shift coverage.
- Handle incident management duties, directly interacting with clients and the management team.
- Independently investigate and escalate issues in line with established protocols and service level agreements.
- Analyze unusual behaviors based on log data from various security tools, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
- Identify enhancements for SOC processes and tools to improve mission effectiveness.
- Mentor and guide junior analysts.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, alongside analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Possess knowledge of SIEM solutions and incident management tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of the lifecycle of cybersecurity threats, attack vectors, and exploitation methods.
- Familiarity with cloud environments and experience in monitoring and responding to threats.
- Awareness of the NOAA mission.
