Job Overview

This is a remote position that requires a strong background in B2B sales, particularly in the industrial food industry.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute market plans to meet annual sales targets, including strategic sales objectives and tactical plans.
  • Direct selling of customers, responsible for managing the sales process, prospecting, contract negotiation and proposals.
  • Advocates for customers within the company, ensuring customer needs and concerns are addressed and communicated effectively across the organization.
  • Develop sales and engagement strategies for key national accounts, regional accounts, and other potential customers.
  • Support the existing business while growing margin and sales volume, with particular focus on Non-GMO, organic, and other specialty products.
  • Familiarity with regenerative agriculture, sustainability, and traceability programs.
  • Propose product solutions to clients by applying their specific requirements.
  • In conjunction with the Marketing Department, prepare individual, tailored pricing quotes and sales contracts.
  • Prepare and present regular updates, reports on sales metrics and market intel to Senior Leadership.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Operations Management, Technical Services and Customer Service to prospect and develop new opportunities to grow the company's market share.
  • Develop trust with customers that provides a significant competitive barrier.
  • Perform both prospecting and account management tasks, such as customer insight gathering, price intelligence, forecasting, customer development planning, customer service delivery and contract/price management.
  • Plan and attend meetings and events, including industry trade shows, to generate new opportunities of business.
  • Establish & maintain a network of industry contracts that lead to sales.
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations and close sales in a professional and effective manner.
  • Must be able to travel 30% of the time.
  • Responsible for food safety and quality.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field and 5+ years' experience of successful B2B sales in a milling environment (preferably corn) where the product is sold as an ingredient to other food manufacturers.
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English is required.
  • Excellent people relationship skills required.
  • Ability to multitask effectively a must.
  • Must be self-driven and very motivated.
  • Excellent organization and relationship skills.
  • Strong teamwork ethic, positive proactive flexible attitude with the ability to take complete ownership of responsibilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
  • Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available.
  • Possess strategic thinking (e.g., analyzing and applying a broad organizational and business perspective to identify and maintain focus on key drivers of current and future organizational performance).
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write informative reports, business correspondence and formal presentations, that can be effective to all levels of personnel.
  • Strong planning skills to run multiple projects and/or initiatives at a time by driving alignment across stakeholders, creating plans for the work to be completed and delegating work appropriately to balance own and team's workload.

Work Environment
  • The work environment is a combination of corporate and manufacturing.
  • Occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Visits to customer and supplier facilities may also be required.
