Job Overview

Sara Hillery Interior Design LLC is on the lookout for a talented and driven interior designer with a strong background in design processes and standards. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. This role involves overseeing the design process from initial concept through to final implementation and installation.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Engage in design projects from conception to execution.
  • Collaborate with team members during design meetings to establish strategic objectives for clients.
  • Assist in maintaining material and resource libraries while providing necessary administrative support.
  • Document daily work hours accurately.

Design Development and Specifications:

  • Conduct site evaluations and measurements; photograph and inventory spaces.
  • Create 2D and 3D designs using software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Possess a solid understanding of contemporary design trends and furniture styles.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Designer to prepare project budgets.
  • Research materials to ensure appropriate selections for each project.
  • Develop detailed schedules and specifications for furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Assist in specifying interior finishes and accessories.
  • Prepare comprehensive design documents, including finish boards and specifications binders.

Product Management:

  • Request pricing and quotes for materials and labor; liaise with vendors for product information.
  • Draft proposals and purchase orders for the Principal Designer's review.
  • Process product purchases with the Principal Designer's approval.
  • Verify accuracy of product orders received from vendors.

Quality Control and Client Interaction:

  • Follow up with vendors regarding orders and track estimated completion and shipping dates.
  • Manage product samples and coordinate receipt and inspection of products upon arrival.
  • Resolve product issues with vendor customer service as necessary.
  • Prepare design presentations and materials for client meetings.
  • Document meeting minutes and distribute them to relevant parties.

Project Coordination:

  • Collaborate with contractors, architects, and other professionals to ensure project success.
  • Manage project timelines and communicate effectively with clients regarding design implementation.
  • Uphold professionalism and deliver an exceptional client experience.

Installation and Follow-Up:

  • Coordinate the installation of furnishings and accessories as required.
  • Prepare installation documentation and ensure the design team is equipped for successful execution.
  • Provide clients with maintenance information post-project completion.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and reliability.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Experience with IVY/Houzz Pro software is a plus.
  • Ability to manage complex schedules and resolve conflicts efficiently.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary for site visits.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and industry partners.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
