Role Summary:

The Interior Designer will be instrumental in supporting the Principal Designer, acting as a key link between the Principal Designer, team members, clients, and suppliers. This role involves attending meetings to document discussions, prioritize tasks, and ensure that action items are executed efficiently. A fast-paced environment requires the ability to juggle various responsibilities while maintaining a thorough understanding of the firm's operations and best practices in interior design.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Manage design projects from inception through to installation.
  • Collaborate on design initiatives and participate in strategic planning meetings for client projects.
  • Assist in maintaining material and resource libraries while providing administrative support as needed.
  • Accurately record time spent on projects daily.

Design Development and Specifications:

  • Conduct site evaluations and measurements; document spaces through photography and inventory.
  • Create conceptual 2D and 3D designs utilizing AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Possess a solid understanding of contemporary design trends and furniture styles.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Designer to prepare project budgets.
  • Research materials to ensure appropriate selections for each project.
  • Develop detailed FF&E schedules and specifications, including sourcing and finishes.
  • Assist in specifying interior finishes, furnishings, and decorative elements.
  • Generate design documents, including finish boards and specifications binders.

Product Sourcing and Management:

  • Request pricing and quotes for materials and labor; liaise with vendors for product information.
  • Prepare proposals and purchase orders for the Principal Designer's review.
  • Process product purchases with the Principal Designer's approval.
  • Verify the accuracy of product orders received from vendors.

Quality Control and Client Interaction:

  • Follow up with vendors regarding orders and track estimated completion and shipping dates.
  • Manage CFAs and sampling processes.
  • Inspect and check in products upon arrival.
  • Address product issues with vendor customer service as necessary.

Client Meetings and Project Management:

  • Develop and present design proposals to clients.
  • Create agendas and gather materials for client meetings.
  • Document meeting minutes and distribute them to relevant parties.

Installation Coordination:

  • Oversee the installation of furnishings, fixtures, and accessories.
  • Prepare installation documentation and ensure the design team is equipped with necessary tools.

Post-Project Follow-Up:

  • Provide clients with maintenance binders post-project completion.
  • Continue to foster client relationships through appreciation initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and reliability.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Experience with IVY/Houzz Pro software is a plus.
  • Ability to manage complex schedules and resolve conflicts.
  • Maintain an up-to-date vendor contact database.
  • Resourceful and enthusiastic team player with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field.

Requirements:

  • Full-time availability (40 hours per week).
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for site visits and errands.
  • Comfortable working in a home office environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs and perform site visits as needed.
  • Some travel may be required.
