Job Overview

Sara Hillery Interior Design LLC is in search of a talented and proactive interior designer who possesses a comprehensive understanding of design protocols and standards within the industry. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, strong follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Role Summary:

The Interior Designer will serve as a crucial support to the Principal Designer, acting as the primary point of contact between the Principal Designer, team members, clients, and vendors. This role involves attending meetings to document discussions, prioritize tasks, and execute necessary action items. The position demands the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment while maintaining a deep understanding of the firm's operations and best practices in interior design.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Engage in design projects from initial development through to final installation.
  • Collaborate with team members during design meetings to establish strategic objectives for clients.
  • Assist in maintaining material and resource libraries, providing administrative support as needed.
  • Document daily work hours accurately.

Design Development and Specifications:

  • Conduct site evaluations and measurements; photograph spaces and maintain inventory.
  • Create conceptual 2D and 3D drawings utilizing AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Possess a solid understanding of contemporary design trends and furniture styles.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Designer to prepare project budgets.
  • Research materials to ensure appropriate selections for various applications.
  • Develop detailed FF&E schedules and specifications, including sourcing and finishes.
  • Assist in specifying interior finishes, furniture, and decorative accessories.
  • Generate design documents such as finish boards and specifications binders.

Product Sourcing and Pricing:

  • Request pricing and quotes for materials and labor; liaise with vendors for product information.
  • Prepare proposals and purchase orders for the Principal Designer's review.
  • Facilitate product purchases with the Principal Designer's approval.
  • Verify accuracy of product orders received from vendors.

Quality Control and Product Receiving:

  • Follow up with vendors regarding orders and track estimated completion and shipping dates.
  • Manage CFAs and sampling processes.
  • Receive and inspect products upon arrival.
  • Resolve product issues with vendors when discrepancies occur.

Client Engagement and Presentations:

  • Develop engaging design presentations for clients.
  • Create agendas and prepare materials for client meetings.
  • Document meeting minutes and distribute them to relevant parties.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate with contractors, architects, and other professionals involved in the project.
  • Manage project timelines and schedules effectively.
  • Maintain open communication with clients regarding design implementation.
  • Uphold professionalism to ensure an excellent client experience.

Installation Coordination:

  • Oversee the installation of furniture, fixtures, and accessories as required.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for installation processes.

Post-Project Follow-Up:

  • Compile and provide maintenance binders to clients.
  • Demonstrate ongoing client appreciation.

Qualifications:

  • Self-driven with strong organizational skills and reliability.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and effective time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Familiarity with IVY/Houzz Pro software is a plus.
  • Ability to manage complex schedules and resolve conflicts.
  • Maintain an accurate vendor contact database.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Full-Time Position (40 hours per week).
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary for site visits and errands.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and industry partners.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, and carrying up to 25 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
