Job Overview

Sara Hillery Interior Design LLC is on the lookout for a proficient and self-driven interior designer who possesses a strong grasp of design protocols and standards within the interior design sector. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, effective follow-through, and the ability to manage priorities efficiently.

Role Summary:

The Interior Designer will be integral in supporting the Principal Designer, acting as a crucial link between the Principal Designer, team members, clients, and suppliers. This role necessitates attending meetings alongside the Principal Designer to document discussions, prioritize tasks, and execute necessary actions. The ability to juggle multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Engage in design projects from initial concept through to installation.
  • Collaborate as a team member on interior design projects and contribute to design meetings to establish strategic objectives for clients.
  • Assist in maintaining material and resource libraries and provide general administrative support as required.
  • Document work hours on a daily basis.

Conceptualization and Design Development:

  • Conduct site evaluations and measurements; photograph spaces and inventory items.
  • Create 2D and 3D designs using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Possess a solid understanding of contemporary design trends and furniture styles.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Designer to prepare project budgets.
  • Research materials to ensure appropriate selections for each application.
  • Develop detailed FF&E schedules and specifications, including sourcing and finishes.
  • Assist in specifying interior finishes, furnishings, and accessories.
  • Produce design documents such as finish boards and specifications binders.

Product Sourcing and Management:

  • Gather pricing and quotes for materials and labor; liaise with vendors for product information and availability.
  • Prepare proposals and purchase orders for the Principal Designer's review.
  • Process product purchases with the Principal Designer's approval.
  • Verify accuracy of product orders received from vendors.

Quality Control and Product Receiving:

  • Follow up with vendors regarding orders and track estimated completion and shipping dates.
  • Manage CFAs and sampling processes.
  • Receive and inspect products upon arrival.
  • Resolve product issues with vendor customer service as necessary.

Client Engagement and Presentations:

  • Develop and present design proposals.
  • Create agendas and prepare materials for client meetings.
  • Document meeting minutes and distribute them to relevant parties.

Project Coordination:

  • Collaborate with contractors, architects, and other professionals involved in the project.
  • Establish and manage project timelines.
  • Maintain communication with clients regarding design implementation.
  • Uphold professionalism and ensure a positive client experience.

Installation Coordination:

  • Oversee the installation of furniture, fixtures, and accessories.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for installation activities.

Post-Project Follow-Up:

  • Provide clients with maintenance binders.
  • Continue to express appreciation to clients.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated with outstanding organizational skills and reliability.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Familiarity with IVY/Houzz Pro software is a plus.
  • Ability to manage complex schedules and resolve conflicts.
  • Resourceful and enthusiastic team player.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week).
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Comfortable working in a home office environment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to the role.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
