Job Overview

Sara Hillery Interior Design LLC is on the lookout for a talented and driven interior designer with a strong background in design protocols and standards. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Role Summary:

The Interior Designer will be an essential support to the Principal Designer, acting as a bridge between the Principal Designer, team members, clients, and suppliers. This role involves attending meetings, taking comprehensive notes, and ensuring that action items are prioritized and executed efficiently. A deep understanding of the firm's operations and industry best practices is crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Manage design projects from initial concept through to installation.
  • Collaborate with team members during design meetings to establish client objectives.
  • Maintain and organize material and resource libraries, providing administrative support as required.
  • Accurately record time spent on projects daily.

Design Development:

  • Conduct site evaluations and measurements; document spaces through photography and inventory.
  • Create 2D and 3D design drawings utilizing AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Understand contemporary design trends and furniture styles.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets alongside the Principal Designer.
  • Research materials to ensure appropriate finish selections.
  • Develop detailed FF&E schedules and specifications.
  • Support in specifying interior finishes, furniture, and decorative elements.
  • Compile design documents, including finish boards and specifications binders.

Product Management:

  • Source pricing and quotes for materials and labor; liaise with vendors for product information.
  • Prepare proposals and purchase orders for the Principal Designer's review.
  • Process product purchases with the Principal Designer's approval.
  • Verify accuracy of product orders received from vendors.

Quality Control:

  • Track orders with vendors and update product tracking systems.
  • Manage CFAs and samples effectively.
  • Inspect and check in products upon delivery.
  • Resolve product issues with vendor customer service as necessary.

Client Engagement:

  • Develop and present design concepts to clients.
  • Prepare agendas and materials for client meetings.
  • Document meeting minutes and distribute to relevant parties.

Project Coordination:

  • Collaborate with contractors, architects, and other professionals involved in projects.
  • Create and manage project timelines.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients regarding design implementation.

Installation Coordination:

  • Oversee the installation of furniture, fixtures, and accessories.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for installation processes.

Post-Project Support:

  • Provide clients with maintenance binders post-project completion.
  • Continue to express appreciation for client relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and reliability.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Familiarity with IVY/Houzz Pro software is a plus.
  • Ability to manage complex schedules and resolve conflicts.
  • Maintain an up-to-date vendor contact database.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills in a timely manner.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Resourceful, independent, and a collaborative team player.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week).
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Comfortable working in a home office environment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks as required for the role.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
