Position Summary

We are seeking a Paint Preparation Specialist to contribute to our expanding operations. This role involves preparing components for painting, which includes cleaning and masking, along with other assigned responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established procedures to reduce unnecessary rework and scrap.
  • Prepare components for cleaning and thoroughly wash to eliminate all contaminants.
  • Mask components according to specifications prior to painting.
  • Carefully remove masking from components after painting.
  • Safely transport components through work areas and paint booths manually and with equipment.
  • Document required entries in logs, forms, and work orders in accordance with quality control and departmental requirements.
  • Report any machine or equipment issues to the senior painter or supervisor.
  • Utilize various hand tools provided by the department, maintaining accountability.
  • Be open to temporary assignments in other departments to assist with production.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools, equipment, and paint booths as directed.
  • Operate department-specific support equipment as necessary.
  • Exhibit a willingness to learn and gain knowledge in paint application processes after mastering paint preparation tasks.
  • Adjust work processes and schedules to align with production demands as determined by supervisors or managers.
  • Collaborate with senior colleagues to gain and share practical knowledge for effective training and performance.
  • Comply with all departmental requirements regarding safety, environmental protection, and other assigned programs.

Qualifications

  • Preferred experience in autobody, automotive, or industrial painting, including masking, paint mixing, and priming.
  • Familiarity with paint sprayers, pneumatic sanders, and other paint preparation tools is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • A collaborative team player who can effectively engage with colleagues and management across departments.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $15 - $23 per hour.
