Role Summary

The Composite Technician plays a crucial role in the fabrication of composite materials. This position involves hands-on processes including the hand lay-up of composite substances, vacuum bagging techniques, and meticulous hand-finishing tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute hand lay-up procedures for various composite materials (Wet & Prepreg)
  • Implement vacuum bagging techniques and methodologies
  • Understand and apply different resin systems (Epoxy, Polyester, Vinyl ester, Silicones, etc.)
  • Conduct hand-finishing operations on molds and patterns
  • Utilize a range of hand tools for cutting, grinding, fitting, and assembly
  • Perform adhesive bonding applications
  • Assemble structures, including setup, bonding, and fastener applications
  • Maintain high attention to detail and precision when working with tight tolerances
  • Conduct self-quality assessments to ensure high standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with composite materials (e.g., Carbon Fiber, Kevlar, Fiberglass)
  • 3-5 years experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to interpret and enhance work instructions (SOPs)
  • Proficient in measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and indicators
  • Demonstrated hands-on fabrication expertise
  • Experience with various hand tools for cutting, grinding, fitting, and assembly
  • Familiarity with adhesive bonding techniques
  • Experience in assembling structures, including setup, bonding, and fastener applications
  • Strong focus on detail and accuracy in high-tolerance work

Work Schedule

Standard hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Compensation

Competitive salary range: $17 - $33.80 per hour
