Position Overview:
Oversee the daily operations of a team engaged in utility construction, excavation, and grading for various projects, including roadways, urban developments, and site preparation.


Key Responsibilities:

Champion the organization's safety protocols, actively participating in all safety initiatives and adhering to the responsibilities outlined by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.

Uphold and promote the core values, vision, and mission of the organization; comply with ethical standards, workplace conduct, safety regulations, and other established policies.

Implement and advocate for the company's safety program, encouraging all team members, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safe practices as part of the organizational safety culture.

Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to ensure that assigned projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Organize and manage the daily functions of the assigned crew and equipment related to the scope of work, including task delegation and accountability.

Interpret project plans and specifications accurately.

Understand and follow surveying markers and plans, including slope stakes, control points, lines, and grades.

Guide equipment operators to ensure proper alignment and movement of materials.

Coordinate the procurement of materials for assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery to the job site.

Support employee training, mentoring, and development; address performance issues as necessary.

Operate heavy machinery required for project completion and manage company vehicles for transporting personnel and equipment between job sites.

Perform specialized tasks related to the assigned position, including but not limited to concrete finishing, utility installation, grading/site preparation, and paving.

Handle administrative duties, including email correspondence, timecard management, and document handling.

Ensure regular maintenance inspections of equipment to keep it in safe operating condition.

Conduct minor servicing and maintenance on equipment, referring major issues to the maintenance shop.

Complete timecards and review costs and production metrics daily.

Ensure compliance with all local and state regulations pertaining to construction.

Timely complete and submit necessary paperwork and reports related to project completion and employee supervision.

Safely operate company vehicles and equipment.


Qualifications:

Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record is required.
Commercial Driver's License is preferred.
3 to 5 years of experience in a specialized construction field or related industry.
1 to 2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
Proven knowledge of construction processes relevant to the area of responsibility.
Proficiency in using computers and mobile devices, including MS Office and relevant applications.


Physical Requirements:

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
Regularly required to use hands for handling and manipulating objects.
Regularly required to communicate effectively.
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Ability to stand or work on feet for extended periods (8 hours or more) and traverse uneven terrain.
Frequent proximity to heavy machinery and construction equipment.
Exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
Some exposure to fuels, oils, and other chemicals.
Frequent travel, including overnight stays, may be necessary.
