Position Overview:
As a Grading Foreman, you will oversee the daily operations of a crew involved in utility construction, excavation, and grading for various projects, including highways and site development.


Key Responsibilities:

Foster a culture of safety by actively engaging in safety initiatives and adhering to the accountabilities set forth by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.

Uphold and promote the core values, vision, and mission of the organization, while following the established code of ethics and workplace conduct policies.

Implement and advocate for the company's safety program, encouraging all team members, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safe practices as part of the organizational culture.

Collaborate with superintendents and project managers to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Organize and direct the daily tasks of the assigned crew and equipment, ensuring clear delegation of responsibilities and accountability.

Interpret project plans and specifications accurately.

Understand and follow surveying markers and plans, including slope stakes and control points.

Guide equipment operators to ensure proper alignment and movement of materials.

Coordinate the procurement of materials for projects, ensuring timely delivery to the job site.

Support employee training, mentoring, and development while addressing performance issues as necessary.

Operate heavy machinery essential for project completion and transport personnel and equipment between job sites.

Perform specialized tasks related to concrete finishing, utility installation, grading, and paving.

Handle administrative duties such as email correspondence, timecard management, and document handling.

Ensure regular maintenance inspections of equipment to uphold safety standards.

Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on equipment, referring significant issues to the maintenance shop.

Complete timecards and monitor costs and production on a daily basis.

Adhere to all local and state regulations pertaining to construction.

Timely completion of paperwork and reporting related to project management and employee supervision is essential.

Safely operate company vehicles and equipment.


Qualifications:

A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record are required. A commercial driver's license is preferred.

3 to 5 years of experience in a specialized construction field or related industry is necessary, with 1 to 2 years in a supervisory role preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes relevant to the position is essential.

Proficiency in using computers and mobile devices, including MS Office and relevant applications, is required.


Physical Requirements:

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

Regular lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds may be required.

Frequent communication and interaction with team members are necessary.

Ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform physical tasks for extended periods, including traversing uneven terrain.

Exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust, noise, and varying weather conditions, is expected.

Frequent travel, including overnight stays, may be necessary.
