Position Overview
  • Oversee field operations for Earthwork/Roadway/Grading projects.
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the grading crew while also engaging in hands-on trade work.
  • Operate various types of heavy machinery for earthmoving and site preparation tasks.
  • Possess expertise in dirt work, including excavation, grading, surveying, and final grading operations.
  • Interpret and enforce safety regulations and practices.
  • Review blueprints to ascertain structural dimensions.
  • Design floor plans and worksite layouts as necessary.
  • Inspect the work completed by team members to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Analyze production schedules and estimate labor hours required for job completion.
  • Utilize levels and GPS technology to establish grades.
  • Adjust work procedures to align with production timelines.
  • Propose improvements to enhance production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials needed for projects.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of equipment utilized on-site, including their limitations and intended uses.
  • Ability to interpret a two-week construction schedule.
  • Experience in grading with various equipment types.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or crew leadership experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in dirt and grading work (subgrade treatment, fine grading).
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience operating large heavy equipment.
  • At least 8 years of experience in main roadway/highway construction.
  • Commitment to safety practices.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs. or more, with frequent physical movements such as bending, climbing, and balancing.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Flexible availability, including potential overtime and weekend work.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Proficient in shooting grades with levels and knowledgeable in GPS.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and depth perception are essential.
  • Experience in grading with various equipment types.
