Role Responsibilities

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for coordinating and providing high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care in alignment with departmental standards and practices. Key responsibilities include:

  • Administering and managing acute care ventilators for both short-term and long-term mechanical ventilation.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation of patient care in the hospital system.
  • Conducting diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Exhibiting strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrating effective communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in Florida.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required within six months of hire.
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, bending, and moving equipment.
  • Capacity to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
