Position Overview: Innovative Community Development Lending Expert

  • This role transcends traditional Loan Officer responsibilities; it will act as a vital business partner, educator, and resource to enhance the capabilities of our network.
  • The Senior Lending Manager will develop and co-create strategies to execute defined national, regional, and local lending initiatives aimed at promoting equitable and inclusive lending, fostering self-sufficiency in lending and portfolio management, and innovating to enhance lending efficiencies while minimizing risk for network lenders.
  • The chosen candidate will collaborate with teams across BankTalent HQ and the CDFI sector to identify and amplify network resources and strengthen the capabilities of network lenders. A comprehensive understanding of community development financial institutions and community economic development is essential.
  • Oversee the annual Supplemental Grants process for network lenders in collaboration with various teams within BankTalent HQ (this is a skill that can be acquired on the job).

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education: College degree, certifications, and/or equivalent relevant work experience.

Experience: A minimum of seven years of experience in a nonprofit or community development financial institution environment with mortgage lending financing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification in community development finance, community economic development, or nonprofit management.
  • 2-4 years of experience focused on community development finance and mortgage lending.

Working Conditions:

Travel: Up to 10%

Physical/Sensory Demands: Fast-paced working environment with extensive computer usage.

Hybrid: This role requires in-office attendance two days per week.

National Initiatives

The National Initiatives Division of BankTalent HQ is responsible for developing, testing, and mapping innovative national programs and services designed to support the approximately 250 NeighborWorks Organizations, with the overarching goal of sustaining a network of excellence that creates opportunities for individuals to purchase affordable homes, enhance their lives, and strengthen their communities.

Additionally, the division manages grant programs beyond the BankTalent HQ Network, collaborating with other nonprofit and governmental agencies nationwide. Key focus areas within National Initiatives include homeownership and lending, financial capability, green strategies, community and resident engagement, community stabilization, real estate, and national foreclosure mitigation counseling programs.
