Purpose of the Role:
The Vice President of Community Engagement plays a crucial role in furthering REFORM's mission by fostering and maintaining significant engagement with partners, grantees, and the wider community. This position is responsible for spearheading initiatives that build strong relationships and community collaborations, amplifying REFORM's influence and visibility. The VP will lead efforts that promote social impact and advocate for criminal justice reform by aligning community engagement strategies with REFORM's policy objectives. This role is essential in orchestrating community-driven initiatives and forming coalitions that unite stakeholders around shared goals, ensuring the organization remains a formidable advocate for change within the communities it serves.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Design and execute comprehensive community engagement strategies that resonate with REFORM's mission and policy goals.
    • Oversee and guide the community engagement team, providing strategic direction and mentorship to ensure successful initiative execution.
    • Collaborate closely with the Chief Policy Officer to align community engagement efforts with the organization's advocacy priorities.
    • Integrate community engagement across all organizational functions in partnership with senior leadership.
  • Community and Partner Engagement:
    • Build and sustain relationships with key community stakeholders, grantees, and partners to advance REFORM's mission.
    • Act as a primary representative of REFORM in community settings, engaging in events and forums to advocate for the organization's initiatives.
    • Develop and lead strategic campaigns to enhance community awareness and support for REFORM's advocacy efforts.
    • Facilitate coalition-building initiatives, uniting diverse stakeholders to address critical social impact issues collaboratively.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Address stakeholder concerns and feedback promptly, ensuring REFORM's values are upheld in all interactions.
    • Represent the organization's interests in community discussions, ensuring REFORM's voice is prominent.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
    • Evaluate community engagement metrics and leverage data insights to inform strategic development and decision-making.
    • Provide reports on community engagement activities and outcomes to senior leadership, offering recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Communications, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in community engagement or external affairs, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective community engagement strategies and partnerships, particularly in social impact or criminal justice reform.

Compensation: Salary range of $225,000-$250,000
